Crash Avoidance Driving / Driver Behavior

This three part video program is a group dynamics approach to driver behavior clarification. With this approach the group discussion leader does not lecture, answer questions, or dominate the discussion. Rather he or she utilizes the video scene concept to clarify the driver's positive behaviors with directive and provocative questions. The video program has three parts: Part I - Driver Behavior, Part II - Aggressive Driver Behavior, Part III - Has this ever happened to you? Each part is a Discussion Session (lesson) and requires approximately 30 to 40 minutes.

Driver Performance Analysis System: DPAS

The DPAS driver evaluation video system is a two-phase driver performance analysis program. The first phase of DPAS is a video oriented test containing real world driving scenes. The second phase consists of a computer analysis of the test. DPAS is designed to prevent motor vehicle crashes, not to predict them. Research has proven that drivers with the ability to quickly and accurately compile and process crucial traffic and driver information have less motor vehicle crashes than drivers that lack these abilities. DPAS measures a driver's skills in compiling and analyzing the important traffic information that is necessary for safe and efficient motor vehicle operation. DPAS also generates statistical profiles of an individual's strengths and weaknesses as a driver.

Driver Risk Index: DRI

The DRI is a driver evaluation video program designed to evaluate a drivers risk recognition and decision making skills. DRI utilizes more than a decade of research, crash evaluation, video technology and field testing to achieve a cost effective method of determining the driver's ability to identify and control traffic related risks. The DRI video depicts traffic risk situations that require the driver to make decisions relating to gap selection, distance judgment, turns, vehicle speed and control. By agreeing or disagreeing with the scene narrator, the driver accepts or rejects the traffic risk, and is scored accordingly.

Essentially, DPT assesses a driver's perceptual and psychomotor responses to 40 video oriented traffic conditions and situations that demand quick and effective vehicle control. During the video program the driver will SEARCH for hazardous situations and conditions, IDENTIFY potential and immediate hazards, PREDICT the potential consequences of the hazard, DECIDE how to evade the hazard, and mentally EXECUTE an appropriate evasive driving maneuver. DPT is a two part driver training and evaluation video program. Part One is a video test, and requires 37 minutes to administer. Part Two is the video self-scoring / self-training phase of the program, and requires 46 minutes to complete.
